Hi I'm Penny. I'm a professional packer with Barrett Moving & Storage, and I'm here to give you some tips, to help you, the customer, pack your own wares yourself. What I'm going to demonstrate for you is how to set up your cartons to prepare them to pack. First we're going to start with the wardrobe. It's the biggest carton we have. We're going to secure it where the two flaps come together, and then we're going to run another piece down both sides to reinforce it. You need the wardrobe bar - and that fits right into the two upper slots of each side of the carton, and you're ready to hang your clothes.

Next I'm going to show you another one of our cartons. It's called The 4.5. This carton we use for bedding or bulkier items. And what you do is you fold these two flaps down, open up the carton, and that's going to secure those in place. You're going to flip your carton over, fold in your flaps and then run your tape. Next size carton is our smallest carton. This is The 1.5. We use this carton for CDs, books, DVDs, and often times what people do is they'll take their books and they will stand them upright. But the best thing to do is to lay your books down in these cartons for handling and for moving. You don't want to ruin the bindings on your books. Once again, fold the flaps over, open the carton, flip it over. Once again, one down the middle and one on each side. When packing your boxes yourself, always be sure to use ample fluff in the bottom, between your layers, especially when you're packing the glassware, and then of course on the top. Now the dish barrels are used as a base when they're loaded on the trucks, so it is important to make sure that the box is completely full and it's firm.
