Hi I'm Tom Bechtold. I live in Burnsville Minnesota. I drive for Barrett Moving & Storage, and I won Van Operator of the Year. I was born and raised up by Foley Minnesota, on a dairy farm. There was ten siblings. I'm the third from the oldest. I'm the only black sheep. The rest all got normal jobs. I have three kids. All three are adopted. The oldest one is fifteen, and he's a boy. The other two is Rebecca and Alexa. They're twelve and eleven, and they're adopted, and they're from the Marshall Islands.

I ride with my significant other, Nancy Nillson. Oh it makes my life so much easier having Nancy along. She takes care of the paper work, I got someone to talk to instead of myself. Hahaha, you don't have to use that. We like to eat. We like cooking. We like sampling different foods. We normally cook a bunch of food ahead of time and bring it along. We love trying different foods. So like this time we did some jumbalaya, and Texas style chili, corn bread, and brought it along. We grill our steaks, and pork chops, and baked potatoes and do everything right in the truck. We hardly ever go out to eat.

I enjoy my job. I love meeting different people. It's a different challenge every day with every house. I like running to the northwest. The scenery is nice on the way out there. And a certain time of the year, be that the River Gorge on 84 is the organ. What do I like the least? Going east. What do I want to see happen farther down the road, in the future? That's a good question. My ultimate dream load would be getting a load to Alaska. I'm still waiting for it.

I was out west loading, got a phone call from my dispatcher, he asks me how good my skin tans. I said "well I burn" and I was just talking to him an hour before that, about reloading me, and I told him he could reload me anywhere, I didn't care. So I thought he was calling to tell me he had a load going to Death Valley or something, but it ended up I'm going to Hawaii. And they told me I made driver of the year. Yes it was a big shocker - never dreamt it.

We've had a lot of customers tell us that we are more professional than they've had with other movers. We go more into detail, as far as handling the furniture and the paper work. I load my own truck. I try working with the guys that are helping us load. I try working with them one on one if I can, so I can pay attention to what's going on. The customer always comes first. I always try keeping the customer happy. I definitely go way out of my way at times to keep the customer happy.
